AYEG has started new project with financial support of “Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)- Local governance programme South Caucasus”.

The project aims to strengthen citizens’ participation in municipal budgeting process and to increase accountability. More specifically:

• To develop and disseminate brochure on budgetary process of municipality and citizens’ participation in it. The brochure will be prepared in easy to understand way for ordinary citizens;
• To develop  special guideline for the target municipalities on how to increase public participation in elaboration and implementation of specific program thereby ensuring accountability and transparency, based on the best interests of local population;
• Based on ed  program in municipality  ‘mentorship’ will be provided in target municipalities on  making programs citizen oriented  with active participation of citizens;
• Advocate the future usage of the guideline to the Ministry of Finance;
• Support the local citizens in target municipalities to actively participate in program development process;

 This project will be piloted in 6 municipalities of Georgia: Telavi, Sagarejo, Gori, Khashuri, Borjomi and Akhaltsikhe and end in November 2013.
