“Enhancing small farmer’s cooperatives’ productivity in Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi region", a project funded by ENPARD-Georgia, projects’ one of the implementing partner is Association of Young Economists of Georgia, with the duration of 01.02.2014-31.06.2017. The overall objective of the project is the reduction of rural poverty in Imereti and Racha. The project action targets semi-commercial small farmers as well as agribusiness and rural entrepreneurs in order to increase their productivity and income as members of business-oriented groups such as cooperatives and associations. Within the project, 23 agricultural cooperatives are established and funded, among them was cooperative “Racha Natural Products”.

“I first learned about the project form my friend and decided to participate with other beekeepers. We decided to join our efforts to solve honeybee reproduction and honey realization problems. Also, cooperation allowed us to simplify the fight against bee sicknesses. After receiving grant our cooperative started realization of bee honey in both, local and foreign (Turkey and Azerbaijan) market. Now there are 7 members in our cooperative, among them one women. For the sessional work we hire additional 3 employees.

Cooperation with AYEG was very helpful, they helped us to forecast financial calculations accuracy. Finally, I would like to advice future beneficiaries who wants to participate in the project to do their best and make realistic financial calculations. “
