“Enhancing mall farmer’s cooperatives’ productivity in Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi region", a project funded by ENPARD-Georgia, projects’ one of the implementing partner is Association of Young Economists of Georgia, with the duration of 01.02.2014-31.06.2017. The overall objective of the project is the reduction of rural poverty in Imereti and Racha. The project action targets semi-commercial small farmers as well as agribusiness and rural entrepreneurs in order to increase their productivity and income as members of business-oriented groups such as cooperatives and associations. Within the project, 23 agricultural cooperatives are established and funded, among them was cooperative “Wino of Terjola”

In 2009, I started operation in wine sector and with other farmers I founded Association of Kvevri Wine, where we consolidate bio wine manufacturers. Land in our region is very segregated, so I have long wanted to unit mine with other farmers land and create cooperative. With the help of the project I was able to do this. Now, we are having 10 cooperative members, among them 2 women.

Our cooperative is active in the viniculture and winemaking, at the same time we have agro-tourism business and from time to time playing host to tourists.   Also we are creating unique types of vine for our vineyard. We are producing ordinary wine and high quality bio wine. Our customers are mostly foreigners, but we are supplying local restaurants too.

I would like to recommend future cooperatives to do the work that they know best and have good relations with the members of the cooperative.
