Citizen’s empowerment for accountability and participation in program budgeting process on municipal level

The aim of the project:

The overall aim the project is the formation of citizen-engagement mechanisms in partner municipalities and to support the increase of accountability of the local governments.

In the scopes of the project in cooperation with the selected municipalities a platform for dialogue with citizens and for their engagement in decision making processes will be established, which will increase accountability of program budgets.

The above mentioned will be achieved through identifying and introducing the possible ways for citizens’ participation in developing the municipal program budgets.

More specifically:

 a) To support the ‘LG – citizens‘ dialogue on the selected programs in target municipalities in order to present the current budgets details to citizens and considering their feedback;

b) To support the citizens to develop and implement advocacy action plans;

c) To support the formation of thematic working groups to ensure the citizens participation in program budgeting process;

d)  To share the achieved results of the project with the local council representatives and other stakeholders.

 

This project will be piloted in 3 municipalities of Georgia: Gori, Borjomi and Akhaltsikhe.
