"Supporting Youth Entrepreneurial Opportunities and Investment studies in Georgia," is a project of "Business Consulting Network Georgia", the Association of  Young Economists of Georgia’s (AYEG) subsidiary’s. The project is funded by Estonian Foreign Ministry and the US State Department. Last year, the project had 14 business projects funded. Among them was The Greenhouse of Strawberry.

“I first learned about the project from my friend, who is working in local non-governmental organization. He told me that the Association of Young Economists of Georgia had a project, which was mainly focused on financial support for displaced youth. Before the occupation of our village, my family had been growing strawberry in open ground. So I had an experience in growing strawberry and after emigration I made small strawberry greenhouse in Tserovani IDP settlement. The land of the greenhouse was 50 square meter. I wanted to develop my existing greenhouse business, but I had not enough financial resources for it. That’s why I decided to participated in the business grant contest.

After receiving grant I built new greenhouse. Lend of new greenhouse is about 150 square meter. The new breed of planted strawberry is harvested almost whole year. I have employed four people in the greenhouse farming. For future I am planning to expend my business and start growing strawberries in the open ground and sell seedlings.

This project show me that if you are hardworking, have a wish and love the job you do, you will achieve the desired goals. I would advise the future applicants to use this real chance to start or develop existing business.
